Day 73: Happy Pi Day, Nerds

Today is the nerdiest holiday in the history of nerdy holidays, so I naturally have to celebrate. Here's what I made in honor of Pi Day.
It could be significantly more visually appealing and chock full of nerdity if I had my laptop with Photoshop. Also, if I had my laptop, I could have printed it out and done something interesting with it. But alas, Laptop is still in the hospital and Printer doesn't like to play with Loaner Laptop, so I had to make do.

So to compensate, here's a little bonus nugget I found on the Internets:

The library has a series of books featuring life-size photographs of animals (or parts of animals). They're fascinating and disturbing. Here are some pictures of our time together.

Sea Lion!

Anteater!

Hippo!

In related news, Guinness is about the size of a panda's face.

Day 71: What Melleny Wants, Vol. 1

I went to Ikea today to start getting a few things I'll need for my new apartment (like dishes, glasses, and a toilet brush). It has sparked the WANT in me, so here's a sampling of a few of the things I think would be nifty to have in my apartment. There are a billion more, but my page was full, so this is it for Volume 1.
Donations are happily accepted. =)

Day 70: The Grape Cod

What can you mix with grape vodka? What can't you mix with grape vodka?

The Grape Cod is like a Cape Cod, but with grape vodka instead of regular vodka. Technically, it should have a lime wedge garnish.

Grape Cod
1 part 3 Olives Purple grape vodka
2 parts Cranberry juice

Day 69: Tools for Mellenellenopolis

Today Mat bought me an awesome set of tools and a nifty bag to hold them all. It's an early housewarming gift for my new apartment, which henceforth shall be known as Mellenellenopolis. My Make for today is putting all my new goodies in my new goodie bag.

It has pockets for everything, plus a bunch left over. So many pockets.

Thanks, Mat!

Day 68: Melleny is Awesome, Apparently

For today, I'll just post some pictures I took* while roaming around town.Who knew I was so famous and universally adored?

* I didn't take these pictures so much as make them using an iPhone app. Technicality.

Day 67: The Sketchy Inhabitants of Utensilvania

I'm not sure where this came from, but it reminds me of a story I wrote and illustrated in elementary school about a penny and a nickel (called "Penny and Nicole's Great Adventure). I also wrote a story about a town full of fruit-people, but I can only remember Governor Gooseberry. So maybe I have a thing for putting faces on inanimate objects. Today, it's utensils.

After the first three, I still had room on my paper, so I had to think up more utensils.

I definitely need to come up with better names before I put these folks in a story, or I'll never win that Newbery.
