Day 324: ¡La Biblioteca está AQUÍ!

Hoy, acabo de escribir un monólogo para un tour de una biblioteca. En español, por supuesto. Es la tarea avanzada. ¡Disfruta!

Buenas tardes, y bienvenidos a la biblioteca pública. Me llamo Melleny y yo soy su guía. Vamos a empezar aquí en el escritorio de circulación, donde ustedes pueden tomar prestado los libros y otros materiales. La biblioteca tiene muchos recursos para su investigación, si usted tiene una tarjeta de la biblioteca. Si no, puede solicitar una aquí.

Aquí es el escritorio de consulta, donde los bibliotecarios pueden ayudar. Ellos responden a las preguntas, buscan libros en el catálogo, y mucho más. Si necesita ayuda, visita aquí. Nuestros bibliotecarios son muy inteligentes y simpáticos. Se pueden encontrar de todo.

A su izquierda está la sala para niños. Hay muchos libros de cuentos ilustrados. Esta biblioteca tiene muchas actividades para niños cada semana. Por ejemplo, tenemos hora de cuentos para niños de edad pre-escolar los martes y jueves a las diez de la mañana. Los niños les gusta mucho la hora de cuentos, porque Kathy, el cuentacuentos, es muy divertida and animada.

En esta sección tenemos la música y las películas. Hay películas en DVD de muchos géneros. Por ejemplo, hay películas cómicas, históricas, románticas, de guerra, de terror, y de ciencia ficción. Hay también los programas de televisión en DVD. Se prestan los DVDs por tres semanas y puede tener diez a la vez. Mejor que una tienda de videos, ¿no?

Allí están las revistas y periódicos, pero aquella sección no es parte de este tour. Hay revistas en español y en inglés. Desafortunadamente, no salen fuera de la biblioteca.

A su derecha está la sala de computación. Hay veinte computadoras para usar. Cada computadora tiene acceso al internet. Puede leer su correo electrónico, visitar los bases de datos, o jugar juegos en línea. Si tiene problemas con una computadora, usted puede pedir a un bibliotecario.

Ahora, estamos en la sala de lectura. Es muy tranquilo aquí porque no puede hablar en esta sala. Es para estudiar y leer. Los bibliotecarios no les gustan las personas fuertes aquí.

Day 321: Hello, Muffin Pan

Today I used a muffin pan with little paper baking cups for probably the first time ever.


My banana walnut muffins look good enough to eat.


And the little liners make them portable too.

I have 12, so that means I can have 2 tonight, 2 for breakfast, 2 for lunch, 2 for dinner, and 4 for dessert.

Or 12 tonight.

Day 320: One Assignment Done, and I Still Have Some Hair Left

Today I finished a really frustrating project for my web design class. I had to set up a form using HTML and CSS, which was the easy part. Then I had to use PHP and a bunch of nigh-impossible-to-edit-without-ruining-everything config and confirm and output files, transferring everything via FTP every time I made a tiny change to see if I made things better or worse.

After poring over page after page of code, I figured out what to do and made my form work!


I'm just posting a screenshot of the form rather than an actual link, because I don't want everyone filling out the form. Then I'd have to collect the output data and put it into my spreadsheet.

But rest assured it's beautiful and has text boxes, radio buttons, checkboxes, and a drop down menu, and the error and confirmation pages are equally gorgeous. You'll just have to believe me.

Day 319: Little Purple Haiku

Today I wrote a haiku expressing pretty much everything that's in my brain right now. I wrote it on a purple 3x5 index card and then decorated it with squiggles and books, representing how my brain feels right now.

Day 318: Saturday Night Booze-a-Rama

Today I made a drink in honor of my most awesomey kickass friend Karol with a K.


It's made of strawberry vodka, peach schnapps, and monster energy drink.

I'm not sure what to call it, except "Karol is Awesome and Kicks Major Ass and is my Hero and has the crazy energy of a Monster."

Yes. It's yummers.
