Day 311: Go Josh Go

Today I invented a drink in honor of Josh Fischer, who instilled amazement and jealousy while kicking many asses in his level 11 Muay Thai kickboxing evaluation today.

Josh enjoys fruity girly drinks, so I put together a concoction of the girliest ingredients I could find, and it turned out quite tasty.

I call it the Princess Josh.


Cranberry juice, grape vodka, peach schnapps, pink champagne, and a vanilla ice cream twist.

And dropping the ice cream in adds froth and flavor.

Day 310: Crapple

It's been a long week. Tonight I invented a drink that I may have invented before, but who can remember such things.


Green apple vodka plus cranberry juice makes the Crapple. Tasty and good-looking. Happy Friday.

Day 309: Monster Butterfly

Today I made a blue plaid origami butterfly. Apparently I used paper a smidge too large.








Guinness likes to roll on it.

It flies really well, kind of like a giant dead butterfly.

Day 308: XML, DTD, XSLT, and OMG

Today I finished up my weekly assignment for my web design class. This week, I got to learn the incredibly complicated XML, which is cool and powerful but awfully tricksy. First, you have to create a DTD file, which sets up rules for terminology and hierarchy. Then you make a XSLT stylesheet for layout and design and formatting. Finally, you make an XML page that calls in both of those other files. All this to get a simple little chart like this:

So it probably doesn't seem like much of an accomplishment to you, unless you too started learning XML four days ago.

Day 307: Multi-Functional Origami Envelope

I got a new origami book from the library and had to try it out. It's a sickness.

So one of the first projects was this weird little folding envelope thing with a whole bunch of pockets.



Here are some coupons I'll never remember to use. They fit so nicely in the inside pockets.



But look! If you close the envelope, there are more pockets on the outside.



And wow! There's a big secret pocket underneath the whole thing!



All this amazingness just by folding paper. Amazing.

But it would be even more amazing with paper that is colored on both sides.

Day 306: Dinner Time

I made a very delicious mini beef pot roast with gravy, garlic mashed potatoes, and green beans for dinner.


Okay, so it wasn't entirely from scratch, but I did have to open three different packages and dirty a pan in the oven.

And after scrubbing makeup and indelible ink off my body for an hour, this was plenty.

Day 305: Dewey Collage

Here's a hastily assembled collage of my Halloween costume, in case you want to see more than just the face with the awesome makeup. Check out the awesome fingernails, hand-painted by Mat to match my skirt.
